I am passionate about people. My experience centres around human dignity, relationships, and spirituality. These are the areas that resonate deeply with me as I join with my clients in the search for meaning and wholeness.
My approach in my work as a therapist is humanistic, holistic, and integrative.
Humanistic means that each encounter is grounded in recognition of the inherent dignity of each client. Collaboration is a key part of the process, as both the counsellor and the client have important insights to offer. I believe that we are made to grow and heal and evolve, no matter what life throws at us, and that sometimes the journey is better if we have someone to walk it with us.
Holistic care acknowledges mind, body, and spirit continually throughout the counselling process, with the intention to work towards wellness in each of these aspects.
Integrative refers to incorporating different approaches and utilizing a variety of evidence-based tools throughout therapy. This ensures a tailored case plan for each client, depending on their goals and interests. Some approaches that I work from are experiential, mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioural, and emotion-focused. An understanding of the impact of systemic influences and trauma are also considered when working with each client.
I strive to establish an authentic and trusting relationship with my clients, and I feel it is a great privilege to journey with them towards hope and healing.
